Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Riccardo Bassoli is a Junior Professor at the Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks and Head of the Quantum Communication Networks Research Group.

Within the QUARKS project, he serves as a Principal Investigator, contributing his extensive expertise in quantum communication and next-generation networks to advance the project’s research goals.

He has established a robust international academic career, receiving his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy in 2008 and 2010. He then earned his Ph.D. degree from the renowned 5G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey in the UK in 2016. During his early research career, he also gained valuable international experience as a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações in Portugal and as a visiting researcher at Airbus Defence and Space in France.

Before taking on his current professorship in Dresden, he built a strong foundation in postdoctoral research. He worked at the University of Trento in Italy between 2016 and 2019, and subsequently joined the Dresden University of Technology in 2019, where he now leads cutting-edge research at the intersection of quantum technologies and communication networks.
